This weekend, Potomac Whitewater had a strong showing at the U.S. Team Trials at the US Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC to determine the individuals representing the USA in 2018 World Championships in Rio, Brazil and Junior World Championships in Ivrea, Italy. Over 50 boats from across the country participated in one of the largest trials events in recent years. We are very proud of the participation and success of the members of Potomac Whitewater at the event. Congratulations to new US Junior National team members: Madison Corcoran K1, Michaela Corcoran C1, Nathanial Francis C1, and Kaelin Friedenson C1. We are also proud to announce returning Junior National Team members Avery Davis K1, Ria Sribar K1, Joshua Joseph K1, and Taylor Pitman K1. Finally, we recognize returning U23 and Senior Team members Casey Eichfeld C1, Ashley Nee K1, Fabien Lefevre C1 K1, and Tyler Westfall K1.

It is a great testament to the hard work and commitment of our athletes, parents and volunteers that the majority of the US Team is made up of active members of Potomac Whitewater Racing. Furthermore, the depth of athletes that participated from our club should allow us to maintain our contribution to the Team USA in the future. We wish everyone on the national team the best of luck on their roads to Rio and Ivrea this Summer. A summary of the team is below and detailed results can be found here:

Please read the following completely…

Potomac Whitewater Racing Center is a whitewater training center under the auspices of the American Canoe Association. Membership dues help the PWRC maintain access and facilities at NRG’s Dickerson Whitewater Course, the Feeder Canal, and the Model Basin.

Potomac Whitewater Racing members will receive cards allowing them access to Dickerson. Pink Cards permit admittance to the course with a Potomac Whitewater Racing-certified coach.  Blue Cards are for advanced paddlers having passed the Blue Card Dickerson test and allow unrestricted access with another blue card holder present. Green Cards are for Potomac Whitewater Racing certified coaches and allow them to bring in pink card holders. PWRC membership is also required for Model Basin Access and weight room use.

All club members wishing to get on the PWRC Dickerson list must submit proof of current ACA membership when joining. If you have not yet submitted a notarized access agreement for Dickerson, please do so and mail to Stace Kimmel.

Note to parents: that for minors both parents have to notarize the access agreement.
