The Potomac Whitewater Racing Center (PWRC) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit club based in Bethesda, Maryland dedicated to supporting aspiring and world-class athletes in the sports of slalom and wildwater canoe/kayak. A USA Canoe/Kayak designated Olympic Center of Excellence, PWRC has a history of over four decades of outstanding whitewater racing success along the Potomac River -- producing multiple Olympic medalists, and junior and senior World Champions
PWRC offers professional instruction in the Olympic sport of canoe slalom to members of all ages -- from beginner paddlers to Olympic athletes. Mild year-round temperatures coupled with world-renowned Potomac River whitewater from Great Falls to Little Falls keeps our local whitewater athletes at the top of the slalom and wildwater racing scene.
PWRC's mission is to promote the sports of canoe/kayak slalom and wildwater canoe and kayak racing, including providing:
• high-quality, year-round whitewater training sites
• world-class coaching
• strength and conditioning training facilities
• competitions
• youth summer camps and
• national and international training camps
Potomac Whitewater Racing Center’s mission also includes community outreach for the benefit of the community, the club and the sport. We continue to be a leader in the Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. area regarding environmental protection, preservation, and clean-up of the area’s rivers and streams. PWRC organizes environmental clean-up days, and works with the following organizations: Potomac Riverkeeper, American Whitewater, American Rivers, and The Alice Ferguson Foundation.
