PWRC Summer Camp 2020

What: Beginner to Intermediate Slalom Kayaking Summer Camp hosted by PWRC’s Coaches. This camp will cover the basics of whitewater kayaking with a focus on Slalom Kayaking skills. It is the hope that this crash course could lead to some new PWRC Slalom Team members!

When: The camp will be two one week sessions: June 22nd – 27th and June 29th – July 4th. The camp takes place Mon-Sat. It is suggested to do both weeks so that the group can grow together and tackle more advanced trips and skills in the second week, but singular weeks are allowed as well. The camp will be held daily Monday-Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Where: A majority of the days will be done at the Feeder Canal (drop off at the Brookmont Church). But some days will take place on the Mather Gorge section of the Potomac (drop off at Old Anglers Inn parking lot).

How Much: $550 / week

More Details: Equipment will be provided by the club unless you have your own gear. Bring your own lunch, water bottle, swimsuit, synthetic shirt to be worn in the water, and shoes that wont come off while swimming (no flip-flops or Crocs). Refunds will be made in the case that the camp cannot be held due to Corona Virus.

Please read the following completely…

Potomac Whitewater Racing Center is a whitewater training center under the auspices of the American Canoe Association. Membership dues help the PWRC maintain access and facilities at NRG’s Dickerson Whitewater Course, the Feeder Canal, and the Model Basin.

Potomac Whitewater Racing members will receive cards allowing them access to Dickerson. Pink Cards permit admittance to the course with a Potomac Whitewater Racing-certified coach.  Blue Cards are for advanced paddlers having passed the Blue Card Dickerson test and allow unrestricted access with another blue card holder present. Green Cards are for Potomac Whitewater Racing certified coaches and allow them to bring in pink card holders. PWRC membership is also required for Model Basin Access and weight room use.

All club members wishing to get on the PWRC Dickerson list must submit proof of current ACA membership when joining. If you have not yet submitted a notarized access agreement for Dickerson, please do so and mail to Stace Kimmel.

Note to parents: that for minors both parents have to notarize the access agreement.
